Stupidi-TEA Explained

It used to be common knowledge. It used to be a safe assumption. No one thought America would ever become a "deadbeat nation".

This week, we've been forced to throw assumptions out the window as the G-O-TEA crazies and their feckless "leaders" have pushed America and the world into a very dangerous situation. If the Shutdown Shitfest and debt default threats continue, America is in for a world of trouble.

And not only that, but the rest of the world faces trouble as well.

But rather than take responsibility for the mess they created and prevent an even worse disaster (that will happen if they fail to act), Congressional Republicans are busy fighting each other while trying to deflect blame onto someone else. And at this point, the entire rest of the nation is sick and tired of being forced into the middle of their sordid melodrama. Even Governor Brian Sandoval (R-"Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me") has recently stepped forward with some thinly veiled criticism of his fellow Nevada Republicans on Capitol Hill.

Congressional Republicans have put themselves in an untenable position. And now, they're crying for President Obama to bail them out by dismantling the very health care law he promised. Judd Legum perfectly summarized Republican "negotiation" demands in one tweet yesterday.

Can I burn down your house?
No
Just the 2nd floor?
No
Garage?
No
Let's talk about what I can burn down.
No
YOU AREN'T COMPROMISING!

The Affordable Care Act (ACA, or Obamacare) is law. It's being implemented as we speak. It's largely based on policy ideas Republicans had championed not that long ago. And it's now working. The game is over.

Republican "leaders" are now looking for something, anything, that they can claim as "victory" as a result of their extortion campaign. And in the mean time, real people are suffering. We're all suffering and we're nearing economic catastrophe simply because of G-O-TEA chaos.

It may not seem easy at first to explain this latest manufactured crisis, but ultimately it comes down to unbridled stupidi-TEA.
